Black Friday
26 NovI haven’t done the “Door Buster” sales on Black Friday in about 10 years. There usually isn’t anything I just have to have that I want to fight for so I just wait until later in the day. Most of the time I can get something that I do want at a great price even later in the day. Last year, I was able to get my Cricut Expression for the sale price at Walmart after 5 pm on Black Friday.
I had promised my daughter that I would take her shopping so she could spend her birthday money. She checked out the ads and saw nothing she wanted in the early bird sales so we just waited till after 11 to head out.
We started out grabbing lunch at Arby’s and then made a quick visit to Hobby Lobby so I could grab a couple of mats for my Cricut. They had Cricut accessories for 50% off so I got 2 packs of mats & a tool set. We’ll just say that I bought my own birthday present!
The next place we went was something I have been wanting to do for awhile. We went to Paint A Piece so they could paint some gifts. I painted 3 gingerbread ornaments for my kitchen tree. One for each kid with their family colored buttons. It was nice to enjoy the peace while painting and watching the busyness of the shoppers through the window.
By the time we were done there, the stores weren’t as crowded. I played chauffeur to my little shopper and took her where she wanted to go. We hit Toys R Us, Game Stop, Barnes and Noble, and Target. She got a lot of stuff for her money! She has been learning from her mommy of course!
When we got home, we were going to put all of the fall decorations away and start working on making the house Chriatmasy but hubby & middle son didn’t get home from work until around 8 so we will just do it tomorrow.
All in all, we had a great day after Thanksgiving. Maybe next year, we will be out in the wee hours shopping but if not, we still make great memories.
Sunday School Scrapbooks
7 NovI have recently started doing something a little different in my 6th grade girls Sunday School class. We are scrapbooking our lessons! I don’t know why I never thought of it before because it is something I have done with my own children for years as part of our homeschool not to mention the fact that I LOVE to scrapbook. It took my friend Lisa H. to recommend it.
So far, the girls have made their title pages and a review page of the lessons we did last month. At the end of the Sunday School year, they will have a nice record of all of the things they have learned in Sunday School and City Lights. They are having a lot of fun using their creativity to make pages that will remind them of important lessons from their 6th grade Sunday School class with Mrs. Christie.
Here are some pictures I took today while the girls were working on their scrapbooks.
