New Kroger Gas Program

31 May

Last week a friend of mine posted this on my Facebook page and I was like WOW!  HOW did you do that?  She told me that Schnucks has a reward program where your grocery points accumulate…I was jealous.  I don’t live near a Schnucks and I am a very faithful Kroger shopper.  I started plotting on how I could try to make it to Schnucks to catch a few of their sales and rack up some gas points but it looks like I am not going to have to!  One of the ladies in the local coupon group I am involved in posted a link to this article from the Commercial Appeal telling about Kroger’s New Gas Savings Program. I am SOOOOO excited!  I always got happy over my little $.10 off and now I will be able to save up to $1.00 per gallon!!  WOW!  Thank you Kroger for giving me another reason to love you.

19 Gifts from TOS

29 May

The Old Schoolhouse Magazine still has a few of their gift packs for new and renewing 2 yr subscribers left. This magazine is one of the very few that I subscribe too AND actually keep on my shelf. I enjoy reading the articles and gleaning from the wisdom of others who have done what I am doing. I read the articles aloud to my children over breakfast and they learn many things from them also. If you are a homeschooler, you should seriously consider adding this resource to your list of must haves.

Connections and Happiness

29 May

I record the CBS Sunday Morning show every week but sometimes do not get a chance to watch it until weeks later…such was the case with the one that aired on 5/8…today is 5/29 and I am just now watching it, while a new one is recording by the way 🙂

Anyway, the point is this, there was a story on this episode called The Pursuit of Happiness and one of the things that made me happy (pun intended) was about how being connected to others can lead to being a happier person! I feel good that my CONNECTIONS are helping people! You can see the video of this story yourself by going to the CBS Site.

Memphis To Host Vietnam Memorial Wall

29 May

When I was in high school, I had the opportunity to visit the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington, DC. I was born in 1974 so I don’t have any actual memories from the war but I learned about it in school. I think reading about it and hearing stories from those who were there helped me to understand a little about the sacrifices that our military makes but seeing the wall with all of the names of people who died really made it stick. Rubbing my fingers over the names of those people…oh my goodness. It was really emotional.

This week, the traveling Dignity Memorial® Vietnam Wall will be in the Memphis area. Although it is a smaller version of the one in Washington (3/4 of the size),it will still leave an impact on those who go to see it. This free memorial will be open to the public 24 hours a day from June 3-5 at Memphis Funeral Home on Germantown Parkway in Bartlett. My family will visit it so the kids will get an idea of the amount of people who died protecting our country in just ONE war. We tend to forget when we don’t have to face it every day…

To find out when it is coming to your area, visit their website.
